Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you contact us through the chat widget on
fedoraoutlier.com, including when that conversation is relayed to our
team by SMS text message.
Information We Collect
When you use our website chat to reach our team, we may collect:
- The messages you type into the chat widget;
- Basic technical information such as browser type and session details needed to route your conversation;
- If you choose to provide it, contact details such as your name, email address, or phone number.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information you provide solely to:
- Respond to your inquiry and provide the support, information, or services you requested;
- Route your message to a Fedora Outlier team member so they can reply to you in real time; and
- Maintain a record of the conversation so we can follow up if needed.
SMS / Text Messaging Program. Our chat-to-text support line is low volume: we do not run
marketing or promotional text campaigns. You will only receive text replies from our team in direct response
to a conversation you started. Message frequency depends on your conversation and is typically a small
number of messages per inquiry (we estimate roughly 20 conversations, total, across all visitors, per month).
Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out
of further messages, or HELP for assistance.
We Do Not Sell or Share Your Mobile Number
No mobile phone number collected through this chat-to-text service will be sold, rented, or shared with
third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and
consent will not be shared with any third party, except as necessary to provide the texting service itself
(for example, our SMS platform provider, Twilio, which transmits messages on our behalf) or as required by
law.
How Long We Keep Information
We retain conversation records only as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your inquiry, keep basic
business records, and comply with legal obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Your Choices
- Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL,
END, or QUIT to any text from us to opt out of future messages.
- Reply HELP for help, or contact us using the information below.
- You may ask us to delete information you've shared with us at any time.
